How does a Pool Heat Pump Work?
Most pool heat pumps are air to water type,which the pool water heat is conveyed from the heat in the air.Yes, you heard it right.There is “HEAT” energy in the air which we breathe every second,even in extremely cold days.That’s why the heat pump is still able to provide heat in winter.It is also called as air source heat pump in some documents.
An air to water swimming pool heat pump works by transferring heat from the outdoor air to the pool water.The heat pump motor fan draw the air into the evaporator coil(built-in heat pump) which is filled with refrigerant.The refrigerant will easily evaporate when it get the air heat and will turn from liquid to a gas type.Now the refrigerant is a type of warm gas,the gas keep flowing in the loops,it will be compressed heavily by a compressor,during when the warm gas will turn to hot gas very quickly.The Hot gas keep moving to the condensor(it is called Titanium heat exchanger,which is sealed in a blue plastic box).Pool water pumped from the swimming pool passes over the heat exchanger,When the hot gas transfter its heat to the pool water.Pool water gets warm and return to your pool,rasing its temperature.The cylcle cnntinues until the set-demanded pool temperature is reached.
